Abstract
This paper reflects on the teacher’s role in medical education, exploring the tension between objective and subjective truth, inspired by Jorge Luis Borges’ short story “The Rose of Para- celsus.” Through a critical analysis, it argues that the true teacher not only imparts technical know ledge but also fosters humanity and art in medical practice. The importance of indirect communication is highlighted, along with the need to train physicians who not only master science but also understand patients in the irentirety.
